The actress transforms the scene in her latest fashion campaign, alongside Ángela Molina, among others. We spoke with her about summer and this project that has taken her to the beaches of Mallorca.
One of the best things about doing a good campaign is the great atmosphere, the exquisite work of the team, the treatment… The wonderful place where it was filmed. “I think all of this is reflected in the result, which has been perfect”, actress María Pedraza tells us about her latest project. Living summer and each of its sunsets. There’s nothing more idyllic than this time of day, on the beach and in good company, which is why MÓ by Multiópticas has chosen to focus its most summery collection on that magical moment when the sun gives way to the moon. Named Solesea, this collection features the Madrid-born actress as the face of a campaign filmed on the idyllic beaches of Mallorca, where the power of light transforms every moment into something special. We spoke with her about this project and the summer days ahead.
Sunglasses are the essential summer accessory: are you more into large, eye-catching styles or discreet ones?
The truth is, I love all kinds of sunglasses, from the smallest to the most striking and oversized. I like to take risks with everything.
Sunglasses are also the perfect ally when it comes to “hiding”. As a public figure, when would you like to go unnoticed?
I love being able to live a normal life and always be María, within the limits of what the situation allows. But of course, at times I’ve wanted to be a little more discreet [laughs]. For example, at the beach, I love being able to relax and enjoy nature, so I love wearing sunglasses at those times. But also when I want to complete a look. There’s nothing like a good pair of sunglasses. And the ones in this campaign are the perfect companions for all these plans.
The tagline for this campaign is, “It’s time to not give up on anything”: What would María Pedraza never give up?
A plan with my family, going to the beach, a good script, a meal, a trip, exploring new places…
And on the other hand, what have you had to give up for your career?
I’ve missed out on many plans with my family, but it’s been rewarded with the effort and satisfaction of seeing the project come to fruition. When I was little, and I was a dancer, I spent almost my entire childhood in a dance class, but even so, I’ll always be grateful for it.
To finish, what’s the most beautiful sunset you remember?
The most beautiful sunset might just be from the north of Ibiza. From one of my favorite hotels and spots.
Actresses Ángela Molina and María Pedraza, musician Grison, singer Manuel Carrasco, and content creator Nil Ojeda. Five distinct personalities, each with their own unique perspective, who, for Multiópticas, represent different styles and forms of authenticity and, therefore, embody the versatility of the Mó brand and its new sunglasses collection, Solesea.
They are the stars of the brand’s new campaign, conceived by Oriol Cuadern, Creative Director and Executive Producer of Instante, and structured around the concept “It’s time to give up on everything”. With this campaign, Mó reinforces its emotional communication and promotes the strategic narrative it has developed over the past few years, expressed as “When you give up on everything, it can only be Mó”.
The creative concept revolves around sunset, aiming not only to capture the emotional connection to the natural transition between day and night, which the brand sees as a moment of transformation, but also to introduce the Solesea summer collection. As Mó states in a press release, it is “a proposal that captures the aesthetic of sunset in its design: warm and cool tones, versatile shapes, and a selection of accessories that complement the uncompromising narrative of summer”.
The commercial features a single-shot sequence that evokes summer and the Mediterranean lifestyle, and whose images were filmed precisely at sunset. Produced by Instante, it presents the five ambassadors in different, linked situations, and together they convey the brand’s idea of living without compromise.
The piece is accompanied by an acoustic version of “El grito del niño” (The Child’s Cry), performed by Manuel Carrasco himself.
The campaign delivers a message about authenticity and the importance of embracing the different versions of oneself. The five chosen personalities represent this idea, each in their own way, and express it for the brand through their identity, contributing their voice, perspective, unique language, and personal experiences. The five ambassadors do not share a generation or style, but they do represent the ambition to live without compromise. They express this in their respective individual pieces.
“Our goal was for the message not to remain just an inspirational phrase, but to be lived. That’s why we chose these five profiles, because they don’t represent an aspirational ideal, but diverse realities”, commented Carlos Crespo, CEO of Multiópticas, in the press release. “They are the best way to show that there isn’t just one way to be, and that style begins when you stop choosing between versions of yourself”.
We spoke with the actress, star of series like Elite, La Casa de Papel, and Las Niñas de Cristal, about her career, the haters, fame, her past projects, and her future plans, coinciding with Netflix’s tenth anniversary.
“As an actress, I’ve grown up alongside Netflix. Two of my first projects, La Casa de Papel and Elite, were pioneers in the platform’s boom in Spain, although now I look back at those works and feel like I’m a completely different person”, says María Pedraza (Madrid, 1996). Dance marked her childhood and adolescence, with sporadic forays into the world of fashion, until, in 2016, she had to stand in front of a camera for the first time. “It was for Amar, which was produced by Netflix. I felt at a crossroads between dance and acting. It didn’t last long; being an actress had captivated me”, she admits. Her love affair with the platform had only just begun: La Casa de Papel, Elite, Toy Boy, ¿A quién te llevarías a una isla desierta?, Las Niñas de Cristal… “I jumped at the chance to do whatever came my way. I remember my first script reading for La Casa de Papel, my second project. I looked around and thought, ‘These people have done so much, and I’m a beginner’. Then you realize that’s not the case, that we all learn from each other, you never stop learning. A part of that María is still there; I maintain the same enthusiasm, even though in other aspects I’ve changed”, she says.
What is María Pedraza like in 2025?
I’m pretty much aligned with what I wanted to be, but before, I didn’t listen to myself enough. It’s a matter of experience. As we get older, we get to know ourselves better and allow ourselves to be ourselves more, although as an actress, I’ve always been clear about the kind of career I wanted to have.
What kind of career path have you charted for yourself?
One in which I can express everything I have inside and that continues to challenge me with each project.
Do the offers you receive meet those expectations?
More or less, and if not, I politely thank them and decline. I always try to respect myself 100%.
In fact, you had the challenge of recording in English, and you did it in Awareness, right?
Yes, I remember perfectly telling you in another interview that that was my challenge. And I’ve accomplished it (laughs).
And now, what are your next challenges?
I’m eager to explore myself in another language, because I’ve felt very comfortable performing in English, and to continue doing projects in Spain, which has given me everything and has shaped me as an actress.
How are you handling criticism and haters now?
I’ve always had so many haters… Especially girls, I’ve never understood it. I get incredibly hurtful comments. At first, a boyfriend I had told me, “You’re a dancer, not an actress”. I was 18, and it really stuck with me. It’s hard to heal those little wounds in your mind. Constant negative judgment destroys you. I went to therapy, I worked it out, and now I don’t care what’s published. I’m confident in myself and my work.
And do you speak your mind?
I’m at a point where I don’t care anymore. I’m an adult, I’m not afraid of a headline and a controversy. My well-being comes first, and that leads me to defend my emotional side. This profession is complicated enough without making it even more so. I have no qualms about saying what I think.
